These workers cannot get assistance Rp. 600,000 per month from the government

KONTAN.CO.ID – JAKARTA. The government plans to provide assistance for workers with salaries below Rp 600,000 per month. This was confirmed by Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir. However, this assistance is only intended for private workers.

The stimulus from the government does not apply to Civil Servants (PNS) or BUMN employees. “The focus of government assistance this time is 13.8 million non-civil servant and SOE workers who are actively registered with BPJS Employment with contributions below Rp 150,000 per month or equivalent to salaries under Rp 5 million per month,” Erick said in his official statement on Thursday (6/8).

Erick Thohir, who also serves as Chairperson of the Covid-19 Handling and Economic Recovery Committee, said that the stimulus program is being finalized so that it can be implemented by the Ministry of Manpower in September 2020.

Erick said, technically, from the budget the nominal assistance of Rp. 600,000 per month for four months would be given directly every two months to the account of each worker. So Erick said, this scheme will not cause abuse.

It should be noted that cash assistance to officers with a salary below Rp 5 million per month is subject to certain conditions. The following are the conditions for recipients of assistance of Rp 600,000 per month:
