Update: Due to the developments and consequences surrounding the corona pandemic and the nationwide ban on all major events until August 31, 2020, we have decided not to continue and update this list in detail with all cancellations. Instead, we will keep you up-to-date with the latest developments and inform you about which triathlon events may still take place in summer and which alternative dates will actually be possible in autumn. We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for the active support and the numerous submissions with information on the specific cancellations of the events up to this point.
The effects of the corona virus, which originally came from China, are now far-reaching in addition to the enormous consequences in the various economic sectors and in many different sectors in the sports and triathlon world: Large triathlon and running events were canceled in advance by the end of April. These include the actually first WTS race of the year in Abu Dhabi, the new Super League race in Neom and several middle distances in Asia. In Germany, the big spring marathons in Hamburg, Hanover and Düsseldorf are threatened. How the situation will develop until the first German triathlons in May is still open. Some federal states, including Schleswig-Holstein, Hamburg, Lower Saxony, Bremen, Thuringia, North Rhine-Westphalia and Bavaria, have canceled major events with more than 1,000 participants for an indefinite period.

The XTERRA racing series has also canceled its races in Greece, Cyprus, Croatia and Italy. The Ironman South Africa was also postponed to the autumn and both Ironman and Challenge now have an overview launched with the respective cancellations of the racing series. The duathlon in Alsdorf on April 19 is also affected by the cancellations, which this year would have held both the European Championship for the first time and the German Championship again. Major races in North America were also postponed or canceled: the Ironman 70.3 Oceanside, Ironman 70.3 Texas and Ironman Texas. The Ironman 70.3 races in Greece, Puerto Rico and Port Macquarie (AUS) will not take place as planned.
Update March 17th: Ironman canceled both the Ironman 70.3 Busselton on May 2nd and the Ironman Cairns in Australia on June 7th and postponed them until autumn.
