These populations are given priority if a vaccine against coronavirus is introduced

Our country is eagerly awaiting a vaccine against the corona virus. When that comes, not everyone will get it right away. “There will not be enough vaccine for everyone,” warns Yves Van Laethem.

A corona vaccine is not expected to be ready until the end of this year or next year. In that case, unfortunately, not everyone will be able to use it immediately. Epidemiologist Yves Van Laethem explains this in Sudpresse. “The most optimistic estimates speak of several million vaccines on the market by the end of autumn 2020. What is certain is that there will not be enough vaccine for everyone,” it says.

Over 65s

The government draws up a list of target groups that are given priority. It would primarily be people over the age of 65 because 90% of people who die of coronavirus or are in intensive care are older than 65. In addition, people with high blood pressure (hypertension) and diabetes are also eligible. The third category will be medical personnel.
