10 Million People in the World Infected by Corona, Can Reach 20 Million in September

Jakarta

More than 10 million people worldwide are infected with the corona virus after six months of the first outbreak reported in the city of Wuhan, China.

The WHO says transmission rates have not slowed down, with the number of infections reaching 20 million in September.

A global pandemic of the corona virus has now been reported in 210 countries and regions, except the Antarctic continent.

Corona virus has also been officially declared as the cause of death of more than 500 thousand people worldwide.

Trip to 10 million

The virus quickly spread after China reported to WHO on December 31, 2019 about an unusual case of pneumonia in Wuhan.

In January, COVID-19 quickly spread to various regions in China until finally reaching all 31 provinces in the country.

China experienced a peak case with 6,500 cases in a 24 hour period in mid-February 2020.

Transmission rates can be controlled after the city of Wuhan, with a population of more than 10 million people, is completely closed or ‘lockdown’, plus a ‘social distancing’ policy and an increase in the number of tests.

On Sunday (6/28/2020), active cases of the corona virus in China are below 1,000.

4,641 people in China died from the corona virus, but since the end of February the most deaths have been outside of China.

The mortality rate in each country will depend on how the health care system is there.

In Yemen, for example, where the spread of cases cannot be traced, it experiences the highest mortality rate in the world.

Previously, the highest number of deaths at the beginning of the pandemic occurred in European countries, such as Italy, Spain, France and the United Kingdom.

Mortality rates are also high in countries that cannot conduct large numbers of tests to track existing cases.

While in Australia, the death rate so far is 1.3 percent of those infected with the corona virus.
