These companies are the job engines of the region 2020 – economy (regional)

The corona pandemic has also shaken companies in southern Baden tremendously. The winners of the 2020 job engine competition defied the pandemic – and created new jobs,

Last year, the corona pandemic shook the German economy – and thus also the companies in the region – tremendously. This is noticeable in the Jobmotor competition, which the Badische Zeitung organizes with partners.

26 companies created 828 new jobs last year. That is a great achievement, given the drop in economic output of almost five percent. Given the restrictions on public life, an award ceremony is as impossible this year as it was last year. Nevertheless, we want to honor the achievements of the companies that took part in the competition. On this page we present the winners. In the next few days, detailed company profiles will appear in the business section of the Badische Zeitung. We present the winners in a video on the Internet.

In the 15 years in which the Job Motor competition has been held, the participating companies have created a total of 18,693 new jobs. However, it makes a difference whether a small craft business creates new jobs or a large industrial company increases its workforce. So that apples are not compared with pears, the job engine is assigned in three categories: for companies with up to 19 employees, for companies with 20 to 199 employees and for companies with 200 or more employees. In addition, in 2020 we awarded a prize for good concepts on how to steer a company through the Corona crisis. The decision on the award of the prize was made by a jury. Decisive for the placement were absolute and percentage job growth in the past year. The jury selected the smartest ideas for the prizes for the best concepts for overcoming the crisis. Here, too, there are the categories small, medium and large.

The Jobmotor competition, which was launched in 2006, is organized by the Badische Zeitung, the Chambers of Industry and Commerce (IHK) Freiburg, Schopfheim, Villingen-Schwenningen, the Freiburg Chamber of Crafts and the Baden Industrial Companies Association (WVIB).

Stay Informed: Bits instead of loose leaves

Stay Informed from Merzhausen has written a success story with an app especially for kindergartens. Founder Peter Horner digitized communication between daycare centers and parents. That means fewer loose pages and more jobs: Stay Informed has 13 employees – winner in the category new jobs for small companies.

Sennrich & Schneider Get started with the right people

Thanks to the corona pandemic, the architecture firm in Breisach finally got the right people. The owners Tobias Sennrich and Mike Schneider always had enough orders on their books – but Breisach is far away from the nearest university. In 2020 the job engine was running at full speed – winner in the category new jobs for medium-sized companies.

Öschberghof: Training without guests

In the Corona crisis, many companies reduced the number of apprenticeships or hired no trainees at all. Not so with the Hotel Öschberghof in Donaueschingen. Here the training continued in full swing – winner in the category Concepts against the crisis for large companies.

Jobrad: Master of permanent growth

The leasing specialist from Freiburg is the serial winner of the job engine. Jobrad has won the award for the sixth time, and the next one seems already programmed: Since the end of 2020 – when the number of employees rose to more than 450 – Jobrad has created around 80 new jobs – winners in the new positions for large companies category.

Towards precision mechanics: investing despite the crisis

Hin Feinmechanik has unwaveringly invested in the corona pandemic and, despite the uncertain economic situation, hired an employee and an apprentice. This earned the Kollnau company the win of the job engine 2020 in the category of concepts against the crisis for small companies.

Bauverein Breisgau: Solidarity comes first

Offering affordable living space even in times of crisis, when short-time work gnaws at income, that has always been the policy of the housing cooperative Bauverein Breisgau. That earned her the win of the Jobmotor 2020 in the category Concepts against the crisis for medium-sized companies.

Linck Holzmaschinen: Against the trend

Some lack orders, others the crisis brings business. Because the sawmills are running at full speed, the systems from the Oberkirch company Linck are in great demand. This brings the company the win of the job engine 2020 in the category Concepts against the crisis for large companies.
