These cities offer the best childcare options

Berlin (ots) –

While the children are still enjoying the holidays carefree, many parents are already tense at the thought of the start of the new school year. Above all, the change in childcare causes stress in many families, because the search for a daycare place, afternoon care or babysitter can cost time and nerves. But there are regional differences: A new data analysis shows which cities are best positioned.

Once again the summer holidays fly by. In the first federal states, the six-week break is coming to an end and many parents and students are already thinking about autumn.

With the new school and daycare year, everyday life or sometimes a completely new routine begins for many families. According to a recent survey by Betreut.de, 57% of parents in Germany expect at least one major change. These relate most frequently to school (e.g. starting school) or day-care center (e.g. settling in), as indicated by 17% of parents. 16% of parents are moving house and 15% are increasing their working hours.

These changes are associated with a lot of stress for almost two-thirds of parents, with the adaptation of childcare being the greatest burden at 31%. Local conditions are often decisive for this. Insufficient daycare places, long waiting times and a lack of staff can often make it very difficult for parents to find the ideal care for their child. And even if a day care center has been approved, bottlenecks often remain that can only be covered with the help of relatives, other parents or babysitters.

Where can parents find the best childcare options?

The Betreut.de team took a closer look at the public and private care offerings in the 50 largest cities in Germany using data analysis. A comparison was made of the available space and the care ratio in day-care facilities, the number of schools and day-care centers as an indicator of distance, the availability of private caregivers such as babysitters, childminders, nannies and borrowed grandmothers, and their ratings on Betreut.de.

These are the top 10:

1. Freiburg im Breisgau
2. Mainz
3. Stuttgart
4. Frankfurt am Main
5. Osnabrueck
6. München
7. Berlin
8. How
9. Karlsruhe
10. Hannover

Freiburg offers the widest range of childcare options

According to the analysis, Freiburg im Breisgau, Mainz and Stuttgart are best positioned when it comes to childcare. Here parents can not only choose from a good public offer, but also supplement this with private providers.

The greatest potential for improvement is in Hagen, Mülheim an der Ruhr and Hamm, which only made it to the last places in the ranking.
