In November, the charges against Pierin Vincenz (64) fluttered into the house. The ex-Raiffeisen boss is accused, among other things, of commercial fraud and forgery of documents.

He also had no luck as a federal prosecutor. Michael Lauber stumbled hard on the Infantino secret meetings.

Pierre Maudet did not give up for a long time. But then, under the impression of new allegations, he resigned as a State Councilor in Geneva. Just to announce his candidacy for his successor right away.

Michael Lauber (55), former federal prosecutor
Only when the noose had tightened around his neck so tight that it was no longer possible to twist it out, Michael Lauber took the consequences. After eight years at the helm of the Federal Prosecutor’s Office, he resigned at the end of August. This after parliament had already initiated impeachment proceedings because of the secret meeting with Fifa boss Gianni Infantino (50) that was not recorded. Politically, the Fifa affair is over. But legally not yet: Criminal proceedings are underway against Lauber.

Pierre Maudet (42), former Geneva State Councilor
Because of the Abu Dhabi affair and allegations of corruption, the former FDP shooting star Pierre Maudet has long since disappeared from the political firmament. In 2020, however, its decline will – for the time being – have reached a low point. After complaints about a catastrophic working atmosphere under Maudet, the cantonal government withdrew his economic department. It was only his disempowerment that made the Geneva resign, but he still wants to run for office again.
Since his release from custody more than two years ago, the ex-Raiffeisen boss has disappeared from the public. Spotted on the Mediterranean Sea and playing golf, he reportedly enjoyed the finer things in life. Did Pierin Vincenz already think he was off the hook? There is a saying that arrogance comes before the fall. In November, the Zurich public prosecutor’s office strikes and charges. Commercial fraud, forgery and passive bribery are the allegations. It is also about unauthorized expense payments: Vincenz is said to have spent 251,000 francs in strip sheds. He faces six years behind bars. The presumption of innocence applies to him until a final judgment has been reached. The descent from the descent: Shortly after the indictment, a Zurich dancer and lover unpacks in BLICK, Vincenz still owes her money. A nice present a few weeks before Christmas.

Tidjane Thiam (58), Ex-CEO of Credit Suisse
Suddenly things happened very quickly, on February 7th Tidjane Thiam (58) announced his resignation, one week later after almost five years at Credit Suisse it was over: Thiam did not want to have known about the shadowing affair around Iqbal Khan (44), but when more cases surfaced, Thiam had to go. Today the once powerful banker advises the Pope on more just capitalism or fights the corona virus on behalf of the African Union.

Greta Thunberg (17), Climate activist
Where did she go? Corona has dwarfed the climate activist. The Swede is going back to school, strikes practically only take place online. When she was allowed to rule for one day as editor-in-chief of the largest Swedish daily newspaper “Dagens Nyheter”, she and the newspaper came under criticism for the “careless way of dealing with power”.

Rudy Giuliani (76), Trump-Anwalt
How deep has he fallen, the former mayor of New York! After the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, he was still celebrated as a hero, in the meantime he should somehow turn the election defeat into a victory for his boss Donald Trump. It is embarrassing how the hair dye trickles down his face when he appears, and shameful how he disregards corona measures and then has to be treated as an infected person in the hospital.

Marco Rima (59), Comedian
Until that year and one sleepless night, Marco Rima was one of the most popular comedians in Switzerland. In a video clip that he published late in August on Facebook, he called for people to stop testing and came out as a corona skeptic. Further relevant contributions and the appearance at a Corona demo in Zurich followed. Many fans and most industry colleagues distanced themselves from the former crowd favorite.

Mimi Jäger (38), influencer
“Thank you, dear demonstrators, you messed up our plans quite a bit,” wrote Mimi Jäger stuck in a traffic jam on Instagram in June and was upset about a Black Lives Matter demo in Zurich that affected her shopping plans. In addition to the anger of the social media community, the former ski freestyler and today’s influencer also attracted the displeasure of many clients and lost several mandates. Small consolation: The birth of their second son Jay in September.

Freddy Nock (56), high wire artist
It has been a long time since he made a name for himself with daring actions at dizzying heights. In public, Freddy Nock was most recently related to domestic violence. At the beginning of November, the Aargau high-wire artist was acquitted of the charge of having assaulted his wife Ximena (45) in May 2008 and March 2013 with intent to kill. But both parties have appealed after the judgment. Affair à suivre.

Michael Lang (29), Gladbach defender
A year to forget for the national team. At Borussia Mönchengladbach he no longer played a role and was loaned to Werder Bremen. There the relegation could just be prevented – Lang saw the games of the relegation candidate mostly in the stands and returned to Gladbach. It is hardly used there either.

Simon Ammann (39), ski jumper
Once the favorite of all Swiss people, he only jumps after them. The former “Everybodys Darling” also lacks support at the ballot box and with crowdfunding.
