These Are the Recommended Back-to-School Vaccines – NBC Los Angeles

Thousands of students are just weeks away from starting the 2022-23 school year, but with this, it’s important to know the recommended immunizations for each student.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends COVID-19 vaccines for all people ages 6 months and older, when eligible.

While the COVID-19 vaccines are recommended for everyone 6 months and older, school districts have continued to recommend immunization shots that are typically for adolescents 18 years of age and younger.

On Tuesday, LAUSD announced new protocols for the new school year to prevent COVID-19, including the fact that wearing a face covering is no longer required for students and teachers, but highly recommended.

As for the COVID-19 vaccine, LAUSD noted that they will be conducting additional virus testing only for students and employees who have been exposed or have symptoms. Vaccinations against COVID-19 will continue to be voluntary and not required for LAUSD students.
