These are the extra NOS broadcasts with commemoration of the dead and Liberation Day

Remembrance Day and Liberation Day have a different character this year because of the corona measures. The NOS reports directly on the most important events and also broadcasts adapted programs in which commemoration and celebration are the central theme.

Remembrance Day Dutch House of Representatives

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Khadija Arib, gives a speech at the ‘Roll of Honor of the Fallen’. In addition, wreaths are laid by the presidents of the House of Representatives and the Senate, and the Prime Minister and State Secretary of VWS. The commemoration starts at 11:00 and can be followed live via NPO Politiek and a livestream on NOS.nl, the NOS app and the YouTube and Facebook page of the NOS.

National Remembrance Day 2020

The commemoration meeting will start at 7 pm in an empty Nieuwe Kerk in Amsterdam, where Arnon Grunberg will hold the 4 May lecture. This can be seen on NPO 1 and all online channels of the NOS.

Around 7.50 p.m. NPO 2 and NPO 3 will also join in and all three public channels will follow the National Commemoration from Dam Square in Amsterdam. The Dam is not open to the public due to the corona measures. King Willem-Alexander will give a speech and together with Queen Máxima he will lay a wreath at the Monument on the Dam.

After the wreath laying, Annechien Steenhuizen gives a brief impression of the course of the commemoration of the dead at NPO 2 from a location in Rotterdam.

Remembrance Day in the Nieuwe Kerk and on the Dam can be followed live on NPO Radio 1 between 19:00 and 20:30.
