There will be a protest against the construction of a stadium in Lucavsala

As informed by the Riga City Council, the picket has been officially announced. Its purpose is to protest against the construction of a football stadium in Lucavsala.

It is planned that 100 people will participate in the event.

As informed by the association, it calls for postponing the decision on the transfer of the plot of land in Lucavsala for free use to the “Latvian Football Federation” (LFF).

It calls on the LFF to clarify the task of designing the stadium by determining the specific number of seats and parking spaces for the stadium, as well as to optimize the land area required for the stadium.

in the opinion of the “Daugavkrasta dārzi” association, after updating this information, the list of plots of land available for the construction of the stadium should be updated. In addition, an independent urban planning consultant should be hired to conduct an independent study of the best site for the construction of the stadium

In the opinion of the association, the city council should decide on the preservation of Lucavsala as a green area without building rights in the future, by making relevant amendments to the development plan of the city of Riga.

It has already been reported that on April 2, at the meeting of the Riga City Council’s City Property Committee, a draft decision was supported on the transfer of a ten-hectare plot of land for free use for five years to the Latvian Football Federation (LFF) for the construction of a national football stadium in Lucavsala.

The final decision on the allocation of land for free use by LFF will have to be made by the Riga City Council.

The managers of the family gardens are calling on the Riga City Council to review the initiative to build a football stadium in Lucavsala.
