“There will always be more cameras and always more use of artificial intelligence” in Nice, says Estrosi

The “police hotel” is due to enter service at the end of 2025 after work amounting to 220 million euros, financed to the tune of more than 170 million by the State. It will accommodate some 2,000 police officers (1,200 national and 800 municipal) and will be equipped with the first urban hypervision center, connected to surveillance cameras but also to numerous sensors (air, traffic, etc.).

On BFM Nice Côte d’Azur, the mayor of Nice, Christian Estrosi, defended this visit. And he also pleaded for this new tool and its “centre d’hypervision”, “real laboratory” of its municipal security policy.

Moreover, the president of the Nice Côte d’Azur metropolis has promised “ever more cameras and ever more use of artificial intelligence” for “manage traffic, pollution risks, major risks, to fight against drug trafficking, urban rodeos and to anticipate all threats”

He once again pleaded for “greater prerogatives” for the municipal police officers, calling for constitutional changes, “either by referendum or by meeting of parliament”.
