From Spain there are rumors of the virus on bills and coins. The newspaper The country reported the findings of a study. Researchers have verified what happens in a bar. Well, they made the necessary comparisons between where you pay with coins and banknotes and where you only use cashless. The result does not make you rest assured: in the case of payments with cash there is a risk of spreading the virus higher than 60%. At this point, therefore, the problem is not only of gatherings and nightlife but also concerns the daily actions done by each of us.
No scientific study has given certainty
It should be noted that there is no scientific study that certifies coins and money, probable vehicles of viruses. However, we hear from many quarters that Covid-19 is able to remain on the banknotes for a long time. On this point an Australian study has shown it.
Resistant virus
In the past, we have already mentioned the study carried out by the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research (Csiro). In this case, the researchers noted how the virus appears “extremely resistant” on smooth surfaces, such as banknotes at temperatures around 20 degrees centigrade. In fact, it could last up to 28 days. The more the temperature rises, the more the virus resists less according to what researchers reported.
The opinion of the World Health Organization
In addition to these studies, the World Health Organization has always reiterated that coins and banknotes can capture any type of bacterium or virus. To avoid risks, therefore, it is better to wash your hands after having handled the money. An additional precaution to take is not to touch your face with your hands.
In light of this, the Italians have no doubts, better that they handle less money and take advantage of payments with credit cards or debit cards. This solution, starting next month, could also be profitable given the introduction of the cashback mechanism. In fact, payments made with traceable transactions can yield a discount. Better to take advantage of electronic payments in order to stop the rumor of the virus on banknotes and coins in the bud.
