To the article “Are there too few parking spaces for scooters and the like?” On May 27, the editorial team received the following letter to the editor:
The head of the press office of the city of Wrzburg, Christian Wei, therefore thinks that it would be counterproductive to add parking spaces for motorcycles. I leave my car in the car and almost only drive to the city center by motorcycle and backpack, so as not to cause more traffic jams and to bring fewer pollutants into the city center. Up to four motorcycles could park in a car parking lot.
The ignorance of Mr. Wei, that one does not necessarily have to park his motorcycle in the shop shows that he did not recognize the signs of the times. On December 20, 2019, the Federal Council decided to make it easier for motorists to get on a 125 motorcycle / scooter. In southern EU countries, this is automatically included in the driving license to counteract the traffic jam in major cities. Anyone who lives in the city can easily ride a bike / e-bike. But if you come from the surrounding area, you already need a motorized two-wheeler. The trend is clear. There is no need for more parking spaces for scooters / motorcycles.
