Showing sharp at club level does not make Bruno Fernandes cute in Timnas Potugal. Cristiano Ronaldo suspected to be the cause.
Since strengthening Manchester United in January 2020, Fernandes immediately became the club’s goal machine. Playing as an attacking midfielder, Fernandes could score 28 goals and 17 assists last season.
When totaled with his goals in the first half of his season with Manchester United, Fernandes has made 40 goals and 25 assists from 80 appearances.
This is the highest number of players since Fernandes became a Red Devils player. Not to mention if you look at his statistics with Sporting CP, 63 goals and 52 assists. Naturally, if Fernandes is so relied upon by the club and of course the Portuguese national team.
Fernandes is now part of the Selecao Das Quinas attack line who are fighting to defend the European Cup trophy this time. However, Fernandes’ performance is still far from what is expected in the national team.
Since debut on November 10, 2017, Bruno Fernandes just made four goals from 30 appearances. His performance when Portugal beat Hungary 3-0 in the first party of the 2020 European Cup was also not impressive.
