The Niort hospital is now closed to visits. The decision was announced this Wednesday, October 28 by the management of the establishment following the appearance of two sources of contamination within the establishment. In the “oncology” department (which treats cancer), six professionals have tested positive. And on the same floor, in the cardiology department, 13 patients and 20 caregivers were infected.

With some exceptions, such as a visit to a patient at the end of life, visits will not be possible within the hospital. In nursing homes and psychiatry, visits by appointment are authorized. “Visits to these departments where people stay for a long time are very important for the health of patients”, underlines Bruno Faulconnier, director of the Niort CH.
