BZ INTERVIEW with DLRG head of operations Mirco Bahr about possible causes of serious accidents on lakes and rivers this summer.
. The serious bathing accidents increased. Only recently, a 26-year-old non-swimmer from Afghanistan sank in the Flckigersee in Freiburg and had to be reanimated. A few days later she died in the hospital. In July, a 34-year-old truck driver from Lithuania died while swimming in the Rhine near Bremgarten. Elsewhere in South Baden, too, people have drowned in the past few weeks. Andrea Drescher spoke to Mirco Bahr from the German Lifesaving Society (DRLG) about the possible causes of such accidents.
BZ: Is the impression made or are there more bathing accidents than usual this summer?
Bahr: There are definitely more bathing accidents. We usually have between seven and ten such really violent incidents a year. This year, we are already 14 in our area of responsibility for alerts …
