The Minister of Health revealed that there are 1332 health professionals infected with covid-19, 231 of whom are doctors and 339 nurses, and said that “more detailed” work is being done to understand the weaknesses of the system.
At the daily press conference at the Directorate-General for Health, Marta Temido indicated that, among the public and private sectors, there are 1332 infected, 231 of whom are doctors, 339 nurses and 762 from other areas who work within hospitals, not yet existing discrimination against the professional group to which they belong.
The minister explained that the information available does not disaggregate health professionals from the National Health Service (SNS) and the entire system, stressing that, at the beginning of the outbreak, there were “many confirmed cases” in professional entities that do not work in the SNS.
Marta Temido also said that the Ministry of Health is currently working to “discriminate in more detail” information related to health at work and to identify “possible weaknesses” in the protection of certain professional groups.
In Portugal, according to the balance made today by the DGS, there were 295 deaths, 29 more than the day before (+ 11%), and 11,278 cases of confirmed infections, which represents an increase of 754 compared to Friday ( + 7.2%).
