Joe Dipietro’s work, directed and adapted into Spanish by Ricky Pashkus, premiered this Thursday, January 7 and Popular was present. “I am very excited, because for all artists it is a very hard moment (as for all human beings), but it is rowing in dulce de leche, so at least this feeling of rowing is relieved with the achievement and deep happiness of let there be people ”, he declared Pashkus.

And he added: “I think it will be the first time in history that we do not look at the collections, we will be happy to be doing theater. Because today the theater, for now, more than a business, is an expressive version of passion ”.

“I love you, you are perfect, change” it’s a comedy musical modern day in which couples of different generations, starring Laura Oliva, Florencia Otero, Agustín Sullivan and Roberto Peloni, meet at different stages of life.

“It is a very funny musical comedy about couple relationships, the evolution of them: from the first date, the marriage to the rising at a funeral,” he explained Roberto Peloni | in chat with Popular.

The meeting, the first date, the courtship, the raising, the seduction, the love affair, the discussion with the parents, the mandates, the singleness, are some of the aspects that are treated in the work from an ironic, sympathetic and critical perspective , but that allows us to understand romantic love with “a lot of love, but also with a lot of humor”.

Music, under the direction of Gaspar Scabuzzo, in addition to being live – where the director himself is in command of the piano and Valeria Matsuda on the violin-, he accompanies the scenes in an “exquisite” way (in the actor’s own words) that captivates the viewer in an impressive way. The vocal register of the actors stands out in each of the scenes, leaving more than one speechless during the course of the play.

Exclusive details from the hand of one of the actors

Three days before the premiere we were able to chat with Roberto Peloni, one of the actors in the play and this is what he told us.

“We do thousands of characters, they are all absolutely crazy with very funny songs, and the scenes are about the problems of when one travels in the car with the family, of the problems of couples, of how each one experiences the situation and even how they are live old age, “he said Peloni.

The actor also admitted feeling identified with all the scenes “no matter how crazy they are, in reality what this meeting of couples is talking about, is the universe that one becomes of the other, either on a first date (that you are measuring all the time), even in a marriage of 40 years of marriage (where communication is central) ”.

And he cleared all doubts about whether the work is to go as a couple or not. “You do not need to be in a couple to go see her, because she talks about the encounter with the other, of what we saw of our parents, brothers, speaks of the bonds of human beings with a lot of humor “, he concluded Roberto Peloni |.

When entering the theater to all spectators, who together with the tickets (either in QR or printed format) must present an affidavit that they do not have any symptoms related to Covid, alcohol is placed on them and their temperature is taken.

Regarding the actors and producers, the director assured that each of them has their own dressing room and that they are tested weekly to provide peace of mind. “They have a dressing room per person, the temperature is taken (of the entire production and the actors) and all the people outside the stage have to wear a mask and a protective mask. And in our case, we carried out a weekly testing for each of the actors and actresses. A test that without implying that it assures anything gives us a certain peace of mind “, he explained Pashkus.

The room that can have a maximum capacity of 30% and must respect social distancing, is in the director’s words “like a choreographic geometry”. And he assured with laughter: “Choreographically it is more interesting to see the audience than the stage, because it is like the figure that is assembled draws your attention.”

A premiere with a lot of emotion

How could it be otherwise, a theatrical premiere open to the public (within the framework of this pandemic), caused a lot of emotion. And both the actors and the director himself finished the show with their eyes full of tears.

“I want to thank all the people of the astral, all of you, we are deeply moved. I think (…) I never felt what I felt now as a man of the theater. And it is that I understood that we are all political beings, you as spectators, we as actors and actresses, each of the musicians, “he said. Ricky Pashkus at the end of the function.

And he added: “Going to the theater was never a casual decision, but now more than ever it is the act of political resistance that I can do and that each of you can do. A time when theater is passionate about doing it.”

“And hopefully we understand once and for all, that without this, there is no life,” he concluded.

Functions: Wednesday and Thursday at 9 pm and Saturday at 8 pm Tickets on sale through Plateanet.
