The most expensive drug in the world, Zolgensma, used to treat spinal muscular atrophy (SMA), has already entered circulation in Russia. The drug is produced by the Swiss company Novartis and costs $2.1 million for a single dose.
The Center for the Development of Advanced Technologies (operator of the digital marking system Chestny Znak), declared this Thursday to the news agency TASS that “the first packages of Zolgensma were labeled and put into circulation for civilian use”, and that a Moscow children’s hospital, in addition to the National Medical Research Center for Children’s Health, “have already used three units of the drug”.
