Begun on July 19, work on the Lude interchange bridge is severely disrupting traffic. They consist of the renovation of the supports of the structure.

In question: the work which has been carried out since July 19 on the Lude bridge. A site, which causes the closure of the exit to the city center and above all reduces the road to a single lane on both sides. A source of pretty traffic jams on an already well-traveled road!
Built in 1977, the Lude interchange bridge needed a major facelift. Carried out by the Dirso, under the direction of the Dreal, the work consists of the resumption of the support structures of the structure. Elements placed between the deck and the supports. To do this, traffic must be interrupted for the duration of the work. Hence the closure of the entry and exit straps.
Another constraint, to resume the bearings, it is necessary to access the two piers of the bridge. However, the latter are located on the 2X2 lane. This causes the reduction to one lane in both directions of the RN88 in order to ensure the safety of people working on the site.
As a result of these measures, exit 16 (city center) is closed to traffic. Just like the entrance. Local detours have been put in place to direct motorists and heavy goods vehicles. Here again, these changes have had a significant impact on traffic in the city center, some axes are now very used, especially at rush hour.
If everything goes as planned, the end of the work is scheduled for August 31, so that the start of the school year can be done in all serenity.
“The State is very attached to the safety of users. This requires regular maintenance of the structures. Work in urban areas is preferably carried out in summer, the season during which traffic in the city is sometimes less dense”, recall the state services.
More than 40 years of work
Work on the Albi bypass began in 1974 to relieve the city’s congestion. Then it got bigger over time. The Séquestre interchange saw the light of day in 2002, that of Terssac in 2006, Fonlabour in 2008, Castres 2009, Marssac 2010, Le Lude 2012. That same year began work on the doubling of the bypass after the Lude towards Rodez to the Cantepau bridge. They ended in 2015. And after? The creation of an Albi bypass has stalled for years. The choice between Lescure d’Albigeois or Castelnau-de-Lévis has still not been decided for lack of political consensus.
