Education is more than the classic range of subjects in school. There are many projects in Dortmund schools that go beyond the usual hours. And valuable early childhood educational work takes place in nurseries. The Lensing Media care organization education control offers support.

Each year since 2012 this has given a check for 2,500 euros to a school or daycare in every district of Dortmund. Donations from the Rotary Club Dortmund-Hörde also contributed to the total of € 30,000 this year.

School or nursery support associations can apply to support special educational initiatives in their institution. There were 29 applications from all twelve districts. The winners for 2022 have now been determined by them.

Mayor Barbara Brunsing and Alexander von Schweinitz of the Rotary Club Dortmund-Hörde and the district mayors of the twelve districts acted as lucky charms. They were very happy with the blessing of money. “Controlling education is enriching for all city districts,” said Evingen District Mayor Oliver Stens. “It’s always great when you invest in education,” said Hörder District Mayor Michael Depenbrock.

Twelve winning projects

And these are the winners of 2022 in the twelve districts:

For Aplebeck: the association of friends of the Benninghof elementary school for a one-week circus project.

For Brackel: the Reichshof primary school support association also for a one-week circus project.

For Eva: the Elisabeth primary school support association for the purchase of rental bicycles and movement games.

For Hombruch: the association for the promotion of the Rudolf Steiner School for the construction and expansion of a common room for pupils.

For the Horde: the Förderverein Dyslexia Dortmund for the acquisition of learning therapy materials for children with reading and spelling difficulties.

For the center east: the sponsorship association of the Max-Planck-Gymnasium for a sponsorship project, in which the patent teams support the pupils of the 5th and 6th grades in their entry into daily school life.

For the center west: the support association of the Karl Schiller vocational school for a project with excursions to the places of remembrance of the Holocaust.

For Lutgendortmund: the association that supports the Froschlake school for the project “The school eats healthy” with vouchers for a healthy school canteen in collaboration with the village of Christian youth.

For Mengede: the sponsoring association of the Reinoldi Comprehensive Institute for the purchase of musical instruments for the musical group and the school band.

For Scharnhorst: the Westholz Primary School Support Association for the “Healthy School” project with a school sporting event.

New opportunity next year

Candidates who have failed this year can hope to try again next year. Johanna Lensing-Wolff has already invited nursery schools and school development associations to apply for the 2023 Education Control on behalf of Lensing Media Hilfswerk.
