The Baudour municipal park had to be closed to the public this summer because of the presence of wild boars. Once the authorizations had been obtained to hunt them, the animals had vanished! The reopening of the park will be discussed. “But residents have suffered damage,” plague Laurent Drousie, of the Osons opposition.

It has been several years since wild boars have made a strong comeback in our region. This summer, the municipality of Saint-Ghislain had to make the decision to close the Baudour municipal park because of the presence of these animals. “This is not a recent phenomenon on the entity,” relates Laurent Drousie, opposition counselor Osons.
Luc Dumont (PS), acting mayor, recounts the events of this summer: “At the level of the Baudour municipal park, the first problems arose on July 15. We noticed the presence of wild boars and we prevented pedestrian access. We closed the large gates once the boars were inside. We had damage until July 23-24. In the meantime, we have started a procedure to find a solution and contain the presence of wild boars. We finally obtained authorization from the SPW Environment to hunt these wild boars from August 8 to September 7, with hunters in order of hunting licenses.
►The hunters went scouting in the woods, but … found nothing at all.
► However, the gates were closed.
