MOSCOW – Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the United States (US) is taking more hostile steps towards Russia than during the Cold War.

However, according to Peskov, Washington hurt itself in the process and ultimately had to recognize Moscow’s legitimate interests.

The statement was made during an interview with Russian media on Thursday (16/6/2022).

“We are not even close to the peak of the crisis,” Peskov told RIA Novosti news agency, explaining the economic damage stemming from the confrontation with the West versus Russia.

He added, “Or rather they haven’t. We are in more stable condition thanks to the macroeconomic measures that the (Russia) government is taking.”

Peskov believes the current amount of pressure on Russia is unprecedented. Nothing of the sort was done “even during the Cold War” or to any other country on Earth, he said.

According to him, the US and its allies are trying to “strangle” Russia with their restrictions.
