The flu vaccination campaign will continue its march this Monday after the arrival of the pediatric doses, as reported by the Ministry of Health of Córdoba. In this way, as of Monday, boys and girls between 6 and 24 months of age can be immunized.
It is worth mentioning that this age group should receive two doses of the vaccine, if they were not applied before, separated by four weeks.
The flu vaccination campaign began the previous Monday, with the doses for the health teams, pregnant people (in any trimester of pregnancy) and puerperal women (up to 10 days after discharge from the maternity ward).
Vaccines are available at more than 800 vaccinatories. Its application is free for the target population and can be placed together with other vaccines, including those of Covid-19.
On this, Paula Barbero, a reference for Immunizations, indicated: “The best thing is that the target population has adequate protection before the flu virus begins to circulate.”
“This vaccine allows to reduce hospitalizations, complications and mortality caused by influenza virus infection in the population at risk,” he added.
As the other doses arrive in the province, it will be reported when people from the other target groups will be immunized (people between 2 and 64 years of age with risk factors, adults over 65 years of age and older, and strategic personnel).
On the other hand, from the Immunizations area they also affirmed that vaccines against Covid-19 with bivalent doses are already available for people from the age of six.
These work as reinforcements to the primary scheme (first and second dose). In order to place any of these reinforcements, four months must have passed, that is, 120 days since the last application.
