That is evolution: only those organisms survive under the given environmental conditions that are (coincidentally) well adapted, those that are not adapted die (from). This also applies to Sars-CoV-2. When the virus probably jumped from animals to humans in late 2019, it suddenly found itself exposed to new environmental conditions, a foreign organism. Only those viruses survived and were able to multiply that were better adapted to the characteristics of human cells through random mutations.
