The virtual theater reaches 2,500 people over 68 residences

About 2,500 people over 68 residences in the region have been able to enjoy the telematic representations of the works selected at the XXXIV Fair of Performing and Musical Arts of Castilla-La Mancha this year.

This initiative, which arose from the agreement reached between the departments of Education, Culture and Sports and the Department of Social Welfare, has managed to offer entertainment and culture to a sector of the population that, in itself, finds it difficult to attend theater shows, circus, dance, music or cinema and, in addition, due to the pandemic they could not do it either.

Of the 68 residencies that have participated, 10 have been from the province of Albacete, 15 from Ciudad Real, eight from Cuenca, eight also from Guadalajara and 27 from the province of Toledo.

The elders of the residences in the region have been able to see these works through the virtual platform of the Performing and Musical Arts of Castilla-La Mancha.

These broadcasts began from November 9 to 15 in the residential centers of Toledo; to continue from November 16 to 22 in those of Albacete; from November 23 to 29 in those of Ciudad Real; from November 30 to December 6 in those of Guadalajara, and from December 7 to 14 in those of Cuenca.

On the other hand, it should be noted that the ‘Platea de Honor’ program is currently being developed, which consists of the broadcast, through the YouTube channel of the elderly centers of Castilla-La Mancha (www.centrodemayoresclm.org), of eight more theatrical performances.

When the ‘Platea de Honor’ equator is completed, there are about 1,700 visualizations that have been made of the works issued so far: ‘Don Juan Tenorio’, ‘Eva Perón’, ‘Muñecas’ and’ Entre bobos anda el game ‘. Still to be broadcast ‘La discreta enamorada’, ‘Leyendas de Bécquer’, ‘El Lazarillo de Tormes’ and ‘La higuera’.

The Minister of Education, Culture and Sports, Rosa Ana Rodríguez, explained that with these measures “we are not only supporting the cultural sector of Castilla-La Mancha, since most of the companies that participate are from the region, but also culture is being carried through new technologies to a group that has difficult access to it ”.

As Rodríguez has indicated, these activities “not only make the situation we are experiencing due to the pandemic more bearable for our elderly, but also facilitate a more active and healthy aging”.
