9:00 a.m. PST – The damage to George Floyd’s bust in Union Square is already well on its way to repair – and all thanks to some members of the community who have stepped up, and who may continue to escalate to prevent this from happening. occur.

Lindsay Eshelman – co-founder of Confront Art, who teamed up with George’s brother, Terrence, and his We Are Floyd organization to produce the statues – told TMZ… the mess.

We are told that these people are just activists / art lovers – and that there is a tourist who just showed up to help. One of the other Good Samaritans was Eric Garnerthe son of, Éric Jr., who we are told has formed a close bond with Terrence throughout this ordeal. Lindsay et co. also contributed… running out of supplies to restore the statue’s bronze shine.

As to what to expect from here… Eshelman tells us that she and Confront Art are trying to organize a watch group to take care of the statue, otherwise known as the “Guardians” – because it remains 30 days into the facility, and they’ve got you worried it will happen again.

The NYPD apparently told them they were on their own in this regard, as the police force will not be stepping up security or patrols. We’re told CA has a 7am to midnight shift in mind, to help keep things kosher after the park closes.

The man who threw paint on a bust of George Floyd in New York is now in the crosshairs of a hate crime unit… and can be seen clearly as daylight on camera committing the act.

The NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Division released surveillance footage which it said depicts the suspect – a fair-skinned guy, of average build … and wearing a green jacket, shorts, and some hat, and walking past. nonchalance before vandalizing the statue.

Just like we told you before… it’s clear as day to hang out near the John lewis statue in Union Square, hanging out and looking around – before pulling out what appears to be a small paint bucket, hopping on his skateboard, and heading towards the bronze effigy of Floyd.

Indeed, there are people around him who see him doing it well… but nobody really takes action. Everything is happening so fast – the man is gone in a flash.

We’re told the NYPD Hate Crimes Task Force is investigating this … for obvious reasons. So far the alleged suspect has not been captured – but the cops are asking for advice or help.

The one this weekend paint job actually served as the second act of vandalism since the statue was first unveiled earlier this summer in Brooklyn … where it was also disfigured, with none other than white supremacist logos and signage. And now in his new home… something similar.
