The used car market is also suffering from inflation

the market of used cars suffers sharp falls due to loss of purchasing power, in the middle of a inflation which gives no respite and skyrockets the prices of vehicleswarned the Automotive Chamber of Commerce.

In October, 118,203 used vehicles were sold, a decrease of 16% compared to the same month in 2021 (140,854 units).

If compared to September 2022 (136,913 vehicles), the decrease is 13.67%.

In the first 10 months of the year, 1,327,459 units were sold, a decrease of 4.23% compared to the same period of 2021 (1,386,115 vehicles).

Alejandro Lamas, secretary of the automotive chamber of commerce, admitted that the decline is “worrying”.

He explained that “to the already known problem, lack of stock in the premises for not being able to replace the cars that are sold mainly due to the distorted market in which we are immersed, now the effects that inflation is causing in the power of people who buy and seasonal matters”.

He stressed that “despite these drawbacks, we will be at 2021 sales volumes by the end of the year”.

“Despite the economic situation we are going through, we hope that the government will support our sector, which participates both in massive job creation and in contributing taxes,” he said. Source: NA
