In the US, today commemorates the attacks of September 11, 2001, the day the terror group al-Qaeda flew planes into the Twin Towers in New York and the Department of Defense in Washington. Due to the corona crisis, this commemoration is more austere than other years.
In New York, relatives of the nearly 3,000 victims of the attacks gathered near where the Twin Towers once stood. Due to the risk of contamination, the names of those killed are not read by family members this time.
