The pandemic of coronavirus has made nearly 20,000 deaths in Italy, with 619 new deaths recorded in the last 24 hours, according to official reports made public this Saturday evening.
With 19,468 dead, Italy officially remains the most mourning in the world, in front of the United States where 18,860 deaths were recorded, according to the reference count of Johns Hopkins University. In Italy, hospitalizations have been decreasing for ten days and the contagion is clearly slowing down.
Schools closed in New York until the end of the school year
By Friday, the United States had become the first country in the world to exceed 2,000 deaths from the new coronavirus in one day, with 2,108 additional deaths recorded in 24 hours.
New York State is the epicenter of the pandemic in United States. New York Mayor Bill de Blasio announced on Saturday that public schools will remain closed until the end of the school year.
