the United States facing the scourge of anti-Asian hatred

In the heart of New York’s Chinatown district, the correspondent of RTL in the United States returns to a worrying phenomenon. Since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, attacks against the Asian community have exploded.

Asian Americans may have had nothing to do with the spread of Covid-19, cases of verbal or physical assault against them follow one another at a worrying rate across the country. They are held responsible for the appearance of “Chinese virus”.

The assaults have increased nine-fold in New York alone. In February 2020, in California, a high school student found himself in the emergency room, after suffering the blows of one of his comrades who accused him of having imported the virus.

An association, which is called “Stop anti-Asian hatred” was even created and had immediate resonance. A reaction in times of crisis, which is reminiscent of the anti-Japanese hatred during the Second World War, after the attack on Pearl Harbor.
