The United States dissuaded Ukraine from an offensive on a dangerous sector of the front – WP

Journalists said the experts conducted simulations of the Ukrainian army’s offensive, using software that analyzed possible prospects for an offensive operation. According to the US military, the APU may be surrounded.

After liberation of Chersonesos in November, the Ukrainian military command also planned to conduct a counteroffensive in the Zaporozhye region and reach the coast of the Azov Sea. This would allow blocking the land corridor to Crimea for the RF Armed Forces. However, the US military dissuaded its Ukrainian colleagues from such an operation. By the way writes The Washington Post, citing senior US Department of Defense sources.

Thus, American and British experts conducted computer simulations of a possible offensive by the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Zaporozhye region. Experts entered the same data on different software. The results of this simulation showed that the Ukrainian Armed Forces would lose their offensive power before reaching the Azov Sea coast.

“The Ukrainian military asked for our advice. And our advice was: “You guys will bite off more than you can chew. It’s not going to work,” a US Department of Defense official said.

In particular, it was reported that a plan for a counteroffensive on the southern front was being discussed between US national security advisers Jake Sullivan and the head of the presidential administration, Andrei Yermak. The result was that the Armed Forces of Ukraine liberated Kherson, but did not go to the Zaporozhye region.

WP sources note that if the Ukrainian Armed Forces attempted a counter-offensive in the Zaporozhye region, they would most likely be surrounded by Russian troops from Crimea and Russia’s border regions.

Previously, The Washington Post published details of the liberation of the Kharkiv region. One of the perpetrators of the counteroffensive was Colonel General Alexander Syrsky. According to him, the operation changed the partners’ attitude towards Ukraine.

We will remind, on December 24, this was stated by adviser to the mayor of Mariupol Petr Andryushchenko The Russians are moving troops to possibly reinforce the front line in the Zaporozhye region.
