The UN Secretary General Allegedly Obstructs Niger’s Participation in the UN General Assembly

The UN Secretary General allegedly obstructed Niger’s full participation in the 78th Session of the UN General Assembly, in violation of the United Nations Charter and the statutory rules for accreditation of a permanent representative to the the UN. Antonio Guterres would not only have refused to recognize the official list of Nigerien delegates to this session, but would also have acceded to a request for the dismissal of Niger’s permanent representative to the UN.

Niger strongly rejects and condemns this obvious interference on the part of Mr. Guterres in the internal affairs of a sovereign State. “This maneuver is considered an attempt to privatize diplomatic relations, going against the interests of Niger and its people”according to the press release.

The Nigerien authorities add that: concerning France, it is suggested that it seeks to delegitimize and isolate the Government of Niger by preventing its worthy representatives from speaking at this world forum. The aim would be to raise awareness among the international community of concerns regarding ongoing neo-colonialism in Niger, with the collaboration of former members of the deposed regime. In addition, it is alleged that France actively supports terrorist groups threatening the security of Niger and the Sahel.

It is suggested that Mr. Guterres would support his long-time Nigerien friends, members of the Socialist International, in coordination with the actions of France and the European Union to punish Niger and its people for their patriotic choices.

As for former ministers Hassoumi Massoudou and Alkache Alhada, they are seeking a pretext and international support to escape Nigerien justice, before which they will have to answer for their crimes and acts of high treason, indicate the new Nigerien authorities.
