The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine said that Moscow, in fact, by its own court decision, recognized the presence of Russian troops in Donbass, which “would strengthen Ukraine’s position in international courts,” reports Radio Liberty.
“The Kirovsky District Court of Rostov-on-Don has signed a confession to Russia. The recognition in the decision of the Russian court of the presence of the armed forces of the Russian Federation in the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine is yet another convincing leveling-off of Moscow’s key argument about the allegedly “internal Ukrainian” nature of the conflict in Donbass. This time, the Russian Federation created a legal precedent with its own hand, which clearly fixed its status as a party to an international armed conflict. This decision will strengthen Ukraine’s position in proceedings against Russia in international courts. It will become increasingly difficult for Russian lawyers to call white black and black white. The verdict of the Rostov judge brought the attraction of the Russian authorities closer to international legal responsibility, “- said in a comment Radio Liberty representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Oleg Nikolenko.
He added that it is not surprising that “the Russian side has begun to remove the aforementioned court decision from public access.”
“But it will not be possible to hide Russia’s crimes against Ukraine,” he added.
Earlier it became known that the Kirovsky court in Russia, in a verdict dated November 2021 in a criminal case of corruption (its text is at the disposal of Radio Liberty), disclosed information about the supply of food to the Russian military stationed in the territories of CADLO not controlled by Kiev. As stated in the verdict of the district court in Rostov-on-Don, 1300 tons of food from the Rostov region were sent to the Russian military stationed at the positions of the militants every two weeks.
According to rough estimates of Radio Liberty, the supply of 1,300 tons of food per week was enough to provide about 26 thousand people. The verdict does not indicate that only one company was involved in the supply.
Representative of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov called the data indicated in the court’s verdict erroneous. According to Speaker Putin, the authors of the court’s verdict could be mistaken, because “there were no RF Armed Forces on the territory of the self-proclaimed republics and there are not.”
Russia has always denied the participation of its military personnel in the hostilities in eastern Ukraine, claiming that the Ukrainian troops there are opposed by a “people’s militia” consisting of residents of Donbass, in which Russian citizens can only be present as volunteers. At the same time, several journalistic investigations and publications of the Ukrainian special services indicated that the Russian army was directly involved in the hostilities in eastern Ukraine. It was not only about the support of artillery strikes, but about the battles between the Russian military and the Ukrainian army.
