The ugliest Ferrari of all time is ugly from every angle. But it won an award in China

Journalists chose a Ferrari, which is luxurious, but not exactly eye-catching. The choice fell on the FF model, which is the sportiest four-seater car of all time.

The Ferrari FF was produced in Maranello between 2011 and 2016, and from the back it almost looks like a regular slapped hatchback. The taillights protrude from the irregular moldings of the body and look like enlarged match heads.

”The FF is clumsy, bumpy from all angles, and even from the front,” the website does not spare criticism of the appearance jalopnik.com. But the vehicle has received several awards, for example for the most beautiful sports car at the Shanghai Auto Show in China in 2011. With a maximum speed of 335 kilometers per hour and acceleration from zero to 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds, it is also one of the most sports four-seater cars of all time.

”It looks more funny than sexy. I see it more as an attempt to make an originally impractical and pure sports car into at least a somewhat useful four-seater. And even though this philosophy is closer to me and I like practical and useful things, it goes against the original intention and purpose Ferrari,” says renowned Czech designer Anna Marešová for TN.cz.

She herself is very well aware of what it is about. “When you say ferrari, it’s a couple of clear signs for me. Super sports flat appearance, red color and a rearing black horse with a tail pointing straight up on a yellow background. And I mustn’t forget the characteristic sound and smell of gasoline,” says Marešová.

The designer believes in the ideal of beauty rather in classic cars from Maranello. He admires the shapes of the Ferrari 125S and 250 GT California Spyder LWB. The Ferrari 125 S is from 1947 and is the first ever Ferrari-branded car. The founder of the car company already produced the Auto Avio Costruzioni 815 in 1940, but at that time the famous brand did not yet exist.

The Ferrari 250 series was produced between 1952 and 1964 and almost all are fitted with Colombo Tipo 125 12-cylinder 221 kW engines. The Ferrari 250 GT California Spyder LWB is from 1957 and was intended for the American market. Aluminum was used to make the hood and trunk lid to reduce weight. Only 50 pieces of the “Elvébéček” were produced and their price today reaches dizzying heights. For example, according to motorsport.com in 2016, one piece was sold for 12.6 million euros. This translates to almost 300 million crowns.
