The Truth Behind the DEA and the Dirty Campaign: Unmasking the Covert Operations

The evidence does not point to the DEA as the head of the Right’s dirty campaign.

Rather, they point to a small committee, of 3 or 4 people, who coordinate the actions of disinformation and to do so they have abundant money and connections.

Thus, from a secret coordinating committee of few people, other similar campaigns were operated. The campaign that led the British to vote for Brexit. The one that collapsed the candidacy of Pablo Iglesias in Spain. The one that knocked down Pedro Castillo in Peru. To mention only 3.

Again: only 3 or 4 conspirators have the total dirty war plan and operate it; and every action is performed by useful idiots, who do not know the whole plan, and often do not even suspect part of it.

So far these have been the most successful attacks of this dirty war that we suffer in Mexico:

The DEA rescued the accusation of a protected witness – according to him, he gave AMLO 2 million dollars in 2006 – an accusation dismissed due to lack of evidence – and leaked it to 3 journalists who published it on the same day in 3 foreign media.

Did each journalist know that 2 others would publish the same material on the same day?

We only know what was stated by the New York Times: the publication date was agreed with the DEA.

Days later, 2 “correspondents” of Latinus “ran into the mountains” by chance a hooded man who declared himself to be “the leader of the Ardillos” and who confirmed the old accusation on camera.

According to the hooded man, he personally gave AMLO those 2 million dollars on behalf of the Zetas cartel.

While the above was happening, for an entire month and daily, a tide of tweets flowed on social networks with the hashtags #NarcoPresidente and #NarcoCandidata.

A tide whose half of the flow originated, according to experts, in bot farms located in Argentina and Spain, and which, due to its size and duration, they estimate has cost over 400 million dollars to this day.

Who has 400 dollars to smear the President and the Left candidate?

The question remains for the reader, the reader.

And what relationship does this covert war have with the Right’s presidential campaign?

Until before this week it seemed like he didn’t have it. It seemed like a campaign dedicated exclusively to discrediting the President and the Left candidate.

Then in the first hour of this Friday just past, came Xóchitl Gálvez’s first campaign speech, already as a formal candidate for the Fuerza y Corazón Front, and the mystery vanished.

The candidate asked for a minute of silence for the victims of Narco. And then she declared that her priority as President would be to combat Narco and she openly characterized the current President and the candidate of the Left as allies of Narco.

That is to say, this first part of the dirty war plan became transparent: the misinformers had been heating up the issue of Narco in the public conversation for a month so that their candidate would place it as the axis of her presidential bid.

The coordination has become evident and it is assumed that from now on it will be closer and its content will become more strident and threatening.

Considering similar campaigns in other latitudes, it could include montages of violent incidents. Fires. Explosions. Attacks by hooded men.

That’s where we are today: in an electoral time that has suddenly become dirty and dangerous, thanks to the strategists of the Front ironically called Strength and Heart for Mexico.

How to disarm this misinformation campaign?

For now, we must once again note the international experience that indicates that the only defense against disinformation is insistence on the Truth.

Note how conjectures, hyperbole or lies become assertions in the misinforming narrative; refuse to repeat them and oppose reality to them; and unmask the operators who spread them.
