Born in 1943 in Cartagena, Colombia, Griselda Blanco Restrepo grew up in Medellin in a violent environment, exposed to crime and death from a very young age. At 11, she allegedly tried to kidnap a child from a wealthy family to collect a ransom, then killed him when she realized she wouldn’t get the money. Two years later, she became a pickpocket, then, at 19, she left home to escape the sexual abuse of her mother’s boyfriend. At a very young age, she met her first husband, Carlos Trujillo, with whom she started a marijuana trafficking business and she had three sons, Dixon, Uber, and Osvaldo. Their relationship deteriorates and she ends up ordering his murder. In the 1960s, Griselda then married Alberto Bravo, a cocaine trafficker, and they moved to New York before returning to Colombia. Here again, their relationship turns sour because of their business and she kills him with a bullet to the head.

To avoid a conviction particularly in connection with drugs, Griselda Blanco fled Colombia and settled in Miami at the end of the 1970s. She then set up large-scale cocaine trafficking in the Florida city, and a wave of violence and murder accompanied this new era in the 1980s. She then married Darío Sepúlveda, with whom she had a fourth son named Michael Corleone in reference to the film The Godfather. Her husband leaves her in 1983 and returns to Colombia with their son, but she has him killed and gets Michael back. She ended up being arrested in 1985 for cocaine trafficking and several murders and was sentenced to 15 years in prison. At the same time, in the 1990s, his first three sons were sent back to Colombia and murdered. In 2004, due to her weakened health, she was released from prison and sent back to Medellin. Griselda Blanco then remained discreet and ended up shot twice in the head by two people on a motorcycle, at the age of 69 in 2012.
