Las Palmas – The Canario-Saharawi Forum, an association which brings together citizens of the Moroccan Sahara and the Canary Islands, expressed on Friday its “firmest condemnation” vis-à-vis the treatment reserved by the Spanish justice to the case by the so-called Brahim Ghali, leader of the Polisario separatists, describing him as a “real judicial farce”.
The Spanish NGO deplored in a statement the lax and permissive treatment reserved by the Spanish justice in this case, criticizing the position of the judge, Santiago Pedraz, who took no restrictive measures against this criminal despite the serious accusations hanging over him. him, and that of the Attorney General, whose “proven indulgence in handling this case is unacceptable”.
“Why did the investigating judge not ask the accused questions? Why did the prosecutor not proceed to a more exhaustive questioning? ”Asks the NGO, noting that the magistrate and especially the prosecutor general“ have clearly neglected their duty ”.
He added that this case “calls into question the independence of our judicial system and the separation of powers of our democracy”.
