Osimhen and Napoli were involved in a cold war two weeks ago, after being drawn goalless by Bologna. In that match, Napoli had a chance to win through Osimhen’s penalty.
Unfortunately, Osimhen’s shot went wide which then led to him being bullied by Napoli’s TikTok account. Napoli’s action then made Osimhen’s camp angry and they sued his club again.
Napoli then apologized a day after the TikTok video went viral and was deleted. Osimhen then made peace with Napoli through a statement on his social media.
However, the effect of the video apparently hit Osimhen mentally hard. The Nigerian striker was no longer Napoli’s main penalty taker after that.
Quoted by Football Italia, Osimhen himself asked coach Rudi Garcia. In fact, after that match, Napoli received three penalties in three different matches.
All of them successfully resulted in goals, two were executed by Piotr Zielinski against Udinese and Real Madrid, while the rest were taken by Matteo Politano when they met Lecce.
Osimhen actually had a good record when he was Napoli’s penalty taker last season. He scored two goals from three penalties to become Serie A’s top scorer with 26 goals.
This season, Osimhen has scored a goal from a penalty in the second week when he met Sassuolo. Victor Osimhen scored five goals in nine matches in all competitions.
