The traditional Bahna Ground Forces Day took place without spectators, but there was still something to see

People could watch the live broadcast on the Internet, said the press and information officer of the Ground Forces Command Ladislav Kabát.

Although there can be up to 5,000 people at outdoor cultural events from today, it is still only about a tenth of the spectators who went to Bahna every year. Fans of contemporary and historical armies and their techniques have come to their senses even during the transfer. “With the main organizer, which is the Ground Forces Foundation, we have prepared a set of demonstrations of control of military equipment, supplemented by the tactical drills of our soldiers,” said Deputy Commander of the Ground Forces Pavel Kolář.

This year, the Army in Bahny did not prepare a traditional one-hour combined thematic demonstration, but in shorter dynamic demonstrations demonstrated the characteristics of heavy equipment, such as T-72 tanks, infantry fighting vehicles, Pandur wheeled armored personnel carriers and self-propelled howitzers Dana. Iveco armored vehicles and Cayman armored vehicles were demonstrated from lighter technology, and Mi-24 combat helicopters and Mi-17 multi-purpose helicopters flew over the space during one of the demonstrations, from which soldiers demonstrated abseiling on a so-called fast rope, which is an alternative. for classic abseiling using a seat harness and abseiling eight. There was also a demonstration of a paratrooper jump. Two combat actions were demonstrated by military history clubs, their demonstrations were ready for last year’s Bahna for the 75th anniversary of the end of World War II.

Every year, Bahen is attended by around a thousand professional soldiers with hundreds of pieces of equipment. This year, about 250 soldiers took part in the event and about 40 pieces of military equipment were seen, said Kabát. According to him, the event went without problems and complications.

“We are looking forward to hoping to welcome the public to Bahne again in a year,” he added.
