“The Togliatti-Odessa Ammonia Pipeline: Russia Rejects Political Demands from Kyiv Regime”

The Russian side rejects the attempts of the authorities of the Kyiv regime to put forward political conditions for the launch of the Togliatti-Odessa ammonia pipeline.

This was reported on Saturday, April 29 by the RIA Novosti agency, referring to a statement by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Vershinin.

He stressed that Moscow has always considered the supply of ammonia as a mutually beneficial commercial project that does not involve political demands. However, Kyiv continues to put forward them.

“We rejected them all, and today we reject”, the diplomat said.

Former Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky stated that he would agree to the export of Russian ammonia through Ukraine in exchange for the release of Ukrainian prisoners of war.

At the same time, the restoration of the Togliatti-Odessa ammonia pipeline and its unimpeded operation is one of the points of the grain deal that has not been implemented so far.

Recall that the food deal was concluded in Turkey on July 22, 2022. Then the Minister of Defense of Russia Sergei Shoigu and UN Secretary General António Guterres signed a memorandum on facilitating the supply of Russian agricultural products and fertilizers to world markets.

At the same time, the Ukrainian delegation signed an agreement with Turkey and the UN on the export of grain. If Ukrainian grain immediately began to be exported, then Russian conditions have not been met so far.

This practice has shown that the grain deal does not meet the interests of Russia and harms it. Nevertheless, Moscow extended the Black Sea Grain Initiative until May 18. Probably in order to later say again that “the partners deceived us.”
