Not long ago there was a story about a 44 year old woman in India who experienced severe headaches every time she had an orgasm during sex. This condition lasts for 30-60 minutes without nausea and vomiting.
The neurologist who examined the woman’s condition said that the patient was experiencing headaches related to sexual activity. This condition occurs due to increased intensity of sexual stimulation or just before or during orgasm.
“Headaches during sexual intercourse or after orgasm can affect one to two percent of the population,” said Dr Sudhir as quoted from The South FirstThursday (4/1/2024).

Chronic Sex Headaches
Quoted from Healthline, there are two types of headaches that may occur when having sex, namely benign sexual headaches and orgasmic headaches. Benign sexual headaches occur when a person is sexually aroused to the point of causing a headache.
Meanwhile, orgasm headaches occur when someone experiences a sudden, severe, throbbing headache in the head before or during orgasm. Under certain conditions, people may experience both types of headaches at once, which usually last for a few minutes or in severe cases for hours.
Headaches due to sex can occur once or in groups over several months. Several studies show that 40 percent of headaches due to sex are chronic and occur for more than one year.
Caused by increased sex drive and blood pressure
Benign sexual headaches and orgasm headaches have two different causes. Benign sexual headaches occur due to increased sexual arousal causing the muscles in the head and neck to contract. Then the headache response will appear.
Meanwhile, orgasm headaches occur due to a spike in blood pressure which causes blood vessels to dilate. Movement during sex can make orgasm headaches worse.
