The time has come: many corona restrictions expire today

It is a day that many have longed for. Today, many of the remaining corona measures will expire.

What’s changing? First of all, the one and a half meter rule is disappearing everywhere. It has been in effect since the spring of 2020 (with the exception of two months in the autumn of 2021). The mouth cap obligation is also largely deleted. Mouth, nose and chin must only be covered on public transport, at airports and on airplanes.

The catering and cultural sector are allowed to keep their regular opening hours again, so the times before the pandemic. That means that the nightlife can fully open again. Events and festivals are also possible again.

Pre-test

Furthermore, the corona pass is largely disappearing. Rules still apply for large events in indoor locations with more than 500 people without a fixed seat. Everyone must be tested beforehand (1G). A negative test is not necessary for trade fairs and conferences, for example, so-called transfer locations.

The corona pass may continue to be required for travel abroad, depending on the rules of a country. The quarantine obligation upon return to the Netherlands expires.

The government announced the relaxation during the press conference on 15 February.
