Mask for access to services, people storage and more terraces. The rules of the Avante party! – Observer

The 1º de Maio auditorium loses coverage, but the venue gains space. People will be “dressed up” by audience assistants and will have to wear a mask to access spaces and all customer service. These are some of the measures released this Thursday for the 44th edition of Festa do Avante! – that this year starts three hours earlier.

In its official newspaper, the PCP dedicated two pages to the mandatory rules for the event to be held on the weekend of 4 and 6 September. In addition to the official measures, the Portuguese Communist Youth had already released a video teaching the dancing Carvalhesa, the party’s flag song, in times of pandemic.

This year the Avante Party! starts earlier. The goal is to avoid crowding near the entrances. Thus, the Quinta da Princesa Gate and the Quinta do Cabo Gate will open to the public at 4 pm on Friday – in last year’s edition the opening was around 7 pm.

In the enclosure, visitors will be guided by audience assistants – a kind of ushers of people – to direct visitors to places and ensure that health rules are complied with. The outdoor camp will continue to exist with a limited capacity, although the maximum number of people who can enter the camp and camp is not yet known.

The PCP also recommends that visitors “wear a mask, because their use will be mandatory in accessing spaces and all customer services“.

The party estimates that, in total, another 10,000 m2 space will be accessible to visitors, compared to what was in previous years, “thus contributing to the decongestion and expansion of all areas with activities and for an adequate circulation ”. The rules provide that all spaces have “Delimitation of areas, marking of corridors and circuits”.

Festa do Avante !: “DGS does not make political decisions”

The number of bars and restaurants will be reduced, but in return the number of terraces will be expanded, “With guaranteed distance between tables and chairs”. “Also in these spaces, permanent hygiene teams and added water and soap points will be guaranteed”, reads the list of rules. The gastronomic offer remains, but their menus will be adapted “to current conditions” and “the return of utensils into service and confection spaces” will be avoided.

The Feast of Avante! will have three central stages: the 25 de Abril stage has grown by 6000 m2, The 1º de Maio auditorium is no longer covered, now having 5000 m2 in the open air, and the Paz stage will bring together the programming of other stages, informs the party. “Avanteatro, which will focus on street programming, and Cineavante, which will be in the lake area, will operate outdoors and with a considerably larger audience area“, It reads between the measures.

The Book Festival leaves the tent closed and will be in a large and shady place. Espaço Ciência will have eight-meter corridors and will work with the reproduction of audiovisual content. The Child Space will also see its space increased ”.

Also the bathrooms will be bigger. The PCP ensures that this year’s edition of Avante! will have “large sanitary facilities” and that one will be exclusive for children. In these spaces, there will be a cleaning team permanently and, at the fixed time, they will be closed for a more frequent and deeper cleaning and disinfection.

Payment by card and contactless will be the means of payment “privileged in order to avoid handling money”. The party warns, however, that “there will only be two ATM points for withdrawals on the premises”.

The PCP is grateful that there is an “increased attention” to “issues of hygiene and food security”, with training actions and manuals adapted to current legislation. “Personal protective equipment will be used and added alcohol gel dispensers to the anti-bacterial soap dispensers already used ”, further reads.

Throughout the party, they will be heard and publicized advice to prevent the spread of the virus: “The general sound, the Festa magazine, the visitor’s guide and the signs will be vehicles for the transmission of messages about sanitary and public health issues.”
