The thirteenth retirement pension: 22/03/2021. The payout is getting closer. How much and when? Who gets the money before Christmas and who after Easter

The thirteenth pension is getting closer. Some will get it before Easter. Who, when, how much on hand?

The deadlines for the payment of the additional benefit in 2021 will be the same as those benefits that pensioners receive every month (1st, 6th, 10th, 15th, 20th and 25th day of each month). Last year, the payments were made in April and May, and for people who receive other benefits with quarterly payments in June and July.

“Trzynastka” will be paid to all who are entitled to various benefits as of March 31, 2021. Everyone is entitled to it, regardless of the amount of the basic old-age or disability pension. It does not matter whether the money is paid from ZUS, KRUS or it is a uniformed pension.

PLN 40 less than it could

All beneficiaries, regardless of how much pension they receive on a daily basis, will receive the same amount of 13. Originally, it was supposed to be the same as the minimum pension – currently this amount reaches PLN 1,200 gross, and from March 1, PLN 1,250.88 gross. It gives 1066.30 PLN net. An advance payment is made for the benefit income tax in the amount of 17 percent (minute amount reducing tax), as well as the health insurance contribution. As it turns out, the situation is different in the case of the thirteen. The additional benefit will be PLN 1022.30 net. Therefore, we will get less than the minimum pension. How did it come about? – This is due to the failure to take into account the amount reducing this tax in the amount of PLN 40. Thus, the net amount of the old-age pension after indexation will be PLN 1066.30, while the net amount of the thirteenth pension will be PLN 1022.30 – explains Dr. Antoni Kolek, an expert of the Pension Institute, in an interview with Fakt. According to the regulations, we can only deduct the tax-reducing amount from one benefit in a given month. Meanwhile, in April, retirees and pensioners will receive both the traditional pension and the 13th payment. Tax will only be deducted from your monthly payment, not from the 13th payment. This is quite an oversight by the government. According to specialists, one change in the regulations was enough for the recipients to receive more. – It could be specified in the act that the 13th payment is a supplement to the old-age pension. Such allowances are exempt from income tax, explains Dr. Kolek.

Of course, the PLN 40 will not be lost – it will return to people receiving the thirteenth benefit, but only in a year, as a return from PIT due for 2021.

Thirteen for the third time

The thirteenth pension was awarded for the first time to pensioners in 2019. From 2020, the “thirteen” is a permanent annual allowance. In addition, it is granted “ex officio”, you do not need to submit any applications. The thirteenth pension is to go to pensioners in April 2021. The payments of the 13th pensions are to be paid in tranches – exactly as they are paid out by ZUS every month.
