JAKARTA – Sun it is about 5 billion years old, its diameter alone exceeds 1.33 billion kilometers, where the circumference of the circle is 325 times larger than that of the Earth.
The weight of the Sun, reaching 332,000 times that of the Earth, the temperature in the center reaches 20 million degrees Celsius, while on the surface it is about 6,000 degrees Celsius.
Summarized from the Book of Science in the Quran, Dr. Nadiah Thayyarah said the Sun has flames protruding from its surface.
The fire, which reached a height of 500,000 kilometers and continuously spits energy of approximately 168,400 horsepower (horses) per square meter.
The sun is just a small star, not a large star. On the surface of the Sun there are very powerful electric and magnetic storms.
The problem that baffles scientists is the fact that the Sun has been emitting the same heat energy for millions of years.
On this basis, there is no doubt that the burning process that occurs in the body of the Sun is not what humans imagine.
Some scientists argue that meteorites and meteors that fall on the surface of the Sun replace the solar heat lost due to the irradiation process.
Hence, the Sun’s energy reproduction process is a change from the abundant hydrogen gas in its body, as well as from the bodies of other stars into helium gas.
It occurs through a series of complex nuclear reactions and produces enormous and unimaginable energy.
In the book Tafsir Ilmi, The Benefits of Celestial Objects in the Perspective of the Qur’an and Science, Lajnah Pentashihan Mushaf Qur’an, the Research and Development and Education Agency of the Ministry of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia, with the Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI), explains the Sun as a source of energy.
The energy directed towards the Earth travels a distance of 150 million kilometers. The heat that radiates from it is enjoyed by humans and other creatures on Earth in their lives.
Furthermore, heat can also be used to heat the Earth’s biosphere and play a role in the photosynthesis process of all types of plants.
One of the verses of the Quran reveals the phenomena on the body of the Sun:
اِنَّ رَبَّكُمُ اللّٰهُ الَّذِيْ خَلَقَ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالْاَرْضَ فِيْ سِتَّةِ اَيَّامٍ ثُمَّ اسْتَوٰى عَلَى الْعَرْشِۗ يُغْشِى الَّيْلَ النَّهَارَ يَطْلُبُهٗ حَثِيْثًاۙ وَّالشَّمْسَ وَالْقَمَرَ وَالنُّجُوْمَ مُسَخَّرٰتٍۢ بِاَمْرِهٖٓ ۙاَلَا لَهُ الْخَلْقُ وَالْاَمْرُۗ تَبٰرَكَ اللّٰهُ رَبُّ الْعٰلَمِيْنَ
“Indeed, your Lord is Allah who created the heavens and the earth in six periods, then sits on the Arsh. He covers the night for the day that quickly follows, and (also created) the sun, moon and stars. (each) submit to His command. Remember, creating and ruling is only God’s right. Glory be to God, Lord of the universe, “(Sura Al-A’raf verse 54).
