The Techart Porsche 911 Turbo S owned by Guul van Deursen is truly a sight to behold. One might wonder who would buy such a car brand new. As it turns out, this particular Porsche has a special history. “It belonged to Yevhen Chervonenko, who is not only a former rally driver but also once served as Minister of Communications and Transport in Ukraine,” reveals Guul. “It was picked in the context of the fight against corruption, and this Porsche was put up for auction.” Guul, being a regular at auctions in Ukraine where he sold used trucks, couldn’t resist the allure of the Techart. “I actually wanted a Porsche 911 convertible, but I also have two sons, and they fell head over heels for this Techart. Then I couldn’t go back. My wife, on the other hand, wants nothing to do with it. It sat in it once, then it was done.”

The Techart conversion, which cost €87,000 at the time, added even more power and uniqueness to the already impressive Porsche. However, getting information from Techart about the specifics of the conversion proved to be a challenge. “Selling parts, they love that, but if you want some extra data about your car, it remains silent,” says Guul. “For example, this model comes in three power variants, but Techart does not confirm whether I bought what I think I bought,” he adds. Determined to find out, Guul plans to uncover the details of his Techart GT Street. In addition to its eye-catching body kit, the GT Street features a new engine management system, larger turbos, and a different intake manifold and exhaust system. All of these modifications are expected to add approximately 80 horsepower to the standard 911 Turbo S.

Despite its impressive power, the Techart Porsche is not used very often. “I did take it to the Zolder circuit once,” admits Guul. “If we use it, we’re doing it right. There are days when I have to refuel twice a day. I must say that it comes into its own on the track.”

Ghisbert van Ginhoven, the chief dynamometer, has the daily task of measuring Porsches. However, he has never seen a Techart GT Street before. He measures the Porsche in two positions: sport mode and normal mode. While the car delivers slightly less torque in the normal mode, the sport mode is where it truly shines. “It comes in very violently,” says Ghisbert when he gets out.
