The Tasikmalaya City Government closes the road in the city center to prevent the spread of COVID-19

Tasikmalaya (ANTARA) – The Tasikmalaya City Government, West Java, took firm steps to anticipate crowds and reduce people’s activities at night amid a surge in cases of the COVID-19 outbreak by imposing road closures in the city center, Sunday night.

The Regional Secretary for the Tasikmalaya City Government, Ivan Dicksan, confirmed that the local government, assisted by elements of the police and TNI, had closed roads so that there would be no community activity in the city center so that the COVID-19 outbreak would not continue to spread.

“This partition is to reduce people’s mobility,” said Ivan.

He said the road closures in the city center would be enforced until the COVID-19 outbreak conditions were under control or not in the red zone status for the spread of COVID-19.

The closure of the road, he continued, is set at the weekend, Saturday and Sunday from 16.00 to 06.00 WIB, then Monday to Friday from 18.00 to 06.00 WIB with the supervision of joint officers.

“Pak Dandim and the Chief of Police have instructed members of each of their posts in their respective areas,” he said.

He revealed that the spread of the COVID-19 outbreak in the City of Tasikmalaya continued to increase, even the status had entered the red zone.

According to him, the results of monitoring in the field are that many people ignore health protocols for preventing the COVID-19 outbreak, such as not wearing masks and keeping a distance.

“Tasikmalaya City is on the verge of a red zone, so we must try not to get into the red zone,” he said.

In addition to preventing crowds, said Ivan, his party also continues to carry out COVID-19 vaccinations for the community, especially the elderly.

“Vaccination also continues to be intensified,” he said.
