The Swedish Prime Minister cancels the trip to Norway due to high infection

On Tuesday, the Swedish Prime Minister presented new corona measures to slow the spread of infection.

She was then asked if she herself had to give up something in the celebration due to the new measures.

– Any of these restrictions will affect people’s plans for the celebration? Are you giving up something you had planned? asked the reporter at the press conference.

– Yes, it affects me personally. I had planned to go to Norway for a week. I have stopped doing this due to the high spread of infection in Norway. It is of course possible to go to Norway, but I have chosen to cancel, Andersson said.

Restricts assemblies

The question came after Andersson had presented new measures. The following will apply in Sweden from Christmas Eve:

• From 23 December, everyone who can will work from home.
• In restaurants, requirements are introduced for seated dining and one meter distance between the tables.
• Larger public assemblies between 20 and 500 participants must be present. When there are more than 500 participants, everyone must sit and have a vaccine pass.
• Private gatherings shall not be larger than 50 people.
• Distance restrictions at gyms and shopping malls.
• Discourages cups and other camps until 16 January.
• Mandatory seat ticket on train.

– This means that there will be no nightclub parties on New Year’s Eve, Andersson said.

– We are in a worrying situation. The spread of infection is increasing rapidly and the burden on the health service is also increasing, Andersson said.

The government will also consider introducing a requirement for a negative PCR test upon entry.

Infection rates in Sweden have been lower than in many other countries this autumn. But also in Sweden they experience increased infection. The measures that are introduced from Christmas Eve are not as restrictive as in Norway and Denmark.
