The surprising performance of “Hurricane” by a female singer we haven’t heard in years

More than a decade since her last single, this morning the Israeli singer Nika surprisingly published a video in which she performs Aden Golan’s song for the Eurovision Song Contest. Although she refuses to be interviewed since she left the country eight years ago, the artist agreed to reveal to Mako: “This song made me want to sing again.” Do we smell a comeback?

After an exciting and nerve-wracking semi-final and a glorious advance to the Eurovision final that will take place this evening, we woke up this morning to the wonderful news that Israel’s representative, Aden Golan, jumped from eighth place to second place in the betting charts with the song “Hurricane”. But the jump in betting was not the only surprising and happy news this morning.

The exciting performance that swept Europe (and the whole world) managed to arouse in one of our favorite Israeli singers, Nika, the desire to return to singing, and this morning she surprisingly published a video in which she performs the chorus of the Israeli song – more than a decade since we heard her unique voice.

Nika left Israel for the United States about eight years ago, two years after the release of her last single. Since then she refuses to be interviewed by the media, but since she could not ignore the power of the song “Hurricane”, she agreed to share with mako the feelings that arose in her while watching Golan perform the song. “I was excited when the song made it to the final,” she told us. “We deserve so much to be happy and of course to win after everything we’ve been through. The song touched us all and the whole world.”

Nika even revealed to us that she recently received a phone call from a well-known figure in the Israeli music world, who tried to find out if she is busy with music these days and continues to sing, how Nika answered her no. Despite this, she tells us that Eden’s moving performance led her to open her phone and film the segment. “Something about this song made me want to sing again,” she revealed. “I’m keeping my fingers crossed for her and I really hope we win.”

The wonderful performance of “Hurricane” in Nika’s special tone of voice was able to move us and remind us of the huge and eternal hit See Me Now (Finally), which she released together with music producer Henry 20 years ago. The musical duo has since released the iconic album Revolution and a host of other hits that have been very successful, such as “French pop song”, “Addicted to you” and “Discotek” with Ethnics. So is there a chance that in the near future we will have a grand comeback of one of our best singers? We are crossing our fingers.
